Gabriella and Jason met on the sunny island of Sint Marteen in May 2021, on the cafeteria patio during the first day of medical school. While the connection was instant, it wasn’t until a week later that Jason made his move playfully pretending not to understand heart anatomy just so Gabriella could teach him.

What started as study sessions and shared laughter quickly grew into a deep friendship, built on support, trust, and a shared determination to succeed. Despite the uncertainty that comes with the rigors and unpredictable nature of medical school, their bond held strong.

By the spring of 2022, their friendship had blossomed into love, marked by their first official date. Jason still remembers how stunning Gabriella looked that evening. Their love only grew stronger over time, especially when Gabriella visited Jason’s hometown of Youngstown in the spring of 2023. Watching her effortlessly connect with his family and friends confirmed what he already knew: she was the one.

The next chapter began when it came time to choose their clinical sites. Though Jason had dreams of sunshine in Miami, he followed Gabriella to Michigan, a decision that led them to build a home together and deepen their relationship even further. Their days became filled with long study hours, shared meals, date nights, and even their first puppy, Milo. These memories were made sweeter by the simplicity of doing life side by side.

Then, on November 22, 2024, Jason proposed! This moment was carefully planned and joyfully celebrated. They had not only found love in the midst of a demanding journey, but also built a partnership grounded in friendship, faith, and mutual respect.

Now, as they begin their next chapter in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as resident physicians, Gabriella and Jason are excited to keep building a life rooted in love, family, and unwavering support. It’s where they’ll say “I do” on March 21, 2026, where they’ll continue chasing dreams together, and one day, raise a family of their own.
